For our 27th entry into the Hall of Legends, we have OceanMan. Thank you so much for your support and congratulations on your achievement. Below is the story he sent us.
I started playing Hearthstone about a year ago and eventually started listening to podcasts about it to try to help my game. HearthCoach was one of the first that I would listen to every week. It was a big help to me starting out especially to hear good feedback on the gameplay and learn about proper decision making in actual games. I would always make a point to try whatever deck Dan was playing each week with varying levels of success...
In recent months I found myself able to reach Rank 5 and up very consistently, and as a father of 3, was happy to reach Dad Legend. Then after finally making Rank 1 in March I felt compelled to keep pushing to legend. I didn't think I'd be able to do it in the first month of a new meta, but it all worked out. I played a lot of decks, lots of midrange hunter on my climb and lots of aggro Druid from rank 5 up. One last thing worth mentioning is that in my final boss match pictured above, my opponent was a very kind soul who clearly guessed I was close. I played well but it became obvious I couldn't win. I decided to play the game out instead of conceding on the slim hope he might disconnect. Instead he too let the game go on, even healing me up at one point before conceding himself. I friended him right away and he said 'you're welcome' and that he knows how stressful those last games can be... All to say there are definitely some very good people out there playing the game and you never know how things will end up. Many thanks to Dan and FRID for their work every week on the podcast.
